Tree Safety Works around the Lake started this week, after the nesting season, so can people using the Perimeter Path please take heed of any warning signs.

Repairs to the northern section of the Perimeter Path, which has become overgrown and rutted, commence on Monday, before the wet season commences. The only way to access the working area, with the quantity of aggregate required, is via a new vehicular entrance on the Concrete Road, serving a track that runs along the lakeside edge of the former Gravel Yard. The works will involve temporary path closure next week. Walkers will have to use the alternative path from Coldmoorholme Lane to Muschallick Road, that runs through the Carington Estate fields that lie between between the Lake and the main road. Access for fishermen will be via the Moor Lane entrance only.

The Carington Estate field east of Muschallick Road is to be temporarily used by the film production company, as ancillary parking and covered space (marquees), for props storage/dressing rooms/amenity space for ‘extras’. The field entrance off Muschallick Road has been renewed, with new double gates being erected and aluminium track way is to be laid in the field. This temporary use comes under Permitted Development Rights planning rules. Carington Estate can require any works undertaken by the film company have to be restored, when they depart. As a result of this activity, the abovementioned footpath will be separated from these activities by ‘Herris’ fencing.

In partnership with Thames Water Utilities, repair works to the badly potholed Muschallick Road commence next week. These will include repainting the ‘raised pedestrian crossing’ at the southern end of the road. Walkers using this crossing need to be aware that the road is busier than it was. ‘Give Way to Pedestrians’ signage is to be erected.

Cadent Gas are to start works soon to add protection to their high pressure gas main that runs north/south, roughly parallel to Coldmoorholme Lane, through paddocks alongside the eastern side of the Lake. They are to access their works area via a field immediately north of the Council’s ownership.

We have had reports that the mare & foal in the Council owned field opposite the Spade Oak PH are becoming a nuisance to walkers, so their owner is to be contacted, to seek their removal (or fencing in). Their Licence to Occupy (instigated to formalise their original unauthorised entry) expires 10 October.
